Jimmy Burns - Leukemia bone marrow aftercare

I am setting this up at the request of Jimmy’s daughter, Britani Burns, and his brother and my spouse, Leon Burns. Many family and friends have asked how they can help. To backup a bit, Jimmy began noticing concerning symptoms approximately 6 months ago and sought medical advice, ultimately being diagnosed with Leukemia.  He has been in and out of the hospital the past 4 months in preparation for his bone marrow transplant. (Praise God a donor came quickly for Jimmy!). While his primary caregiver has been Britani, a list of additional caregivers was originally required for him to even be put on the transplant list guaranteeing his care 24/7 upon his hospitalization release in approximately 2 weeks.  (Jimmy is not married and lives alone for those who may not know). Due to COVID, some persons who were happy to help, now have COVID recovery issues or have their own health issues to be concerned with, and additionally, with Jimmy’s immune system having to be built from zero back to normal levels with this transplant, we have to be so careful how many people are in and out of his home. Anyone able to physically volunteer to help would have to test negative for COVID prior to their care dates. The family feels it may be safer for Jimmy to have as few persons in and out of his home and hire a home health worker for the majority of his care, or at least fill in any gaps where needed. If you know Jimmy, Britani, or Léon, or simply have it in your heart to donate to hire a home health worker, no donation is too small!
