Jimmy Chi Stroke Recovery Fund

Donation protected

A long time ago (Sept. 25) in a galaxy far, far away (central Florida), Jimmy tried to visit friends and Disney World. Instead, he got vibe-checked by a blood clot named Claude (a rogue one, if you will) and had to deal with the many complications that come with a stroke.

Jimmy underwent extensive medical interventions in Florida, including a helicopter ride between hospitals (#YOLO), assorted bloodletting ceremonies and intense physical therapy.

Surprisingly, Jimmy’s Florida doctors decided the best course of action was to leave the blood clot alone, lodged in his brain. The fear was that breaking it up would set Claude loose, causing it to wreak havoc elsewhere in Jimmydom. So, it’s still there, folks!

To complicate matters further, Jimmy developed Wallenberg syndrome  as a result of the stroke; his ongoing symptoms include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Vertigo, dizziness and nausea
* Double vision
* Sensation loss in the right half of his body and weakness in the left half of his body (the dominant side)
* Uncontrollable hiccups / spasms
* Headaches that feel like a “stabbing ice pick” or a “bullet” in his head

Jimmy’s recovery will continue after he returns home to the Bay Area, where his brain will finish rebooting as he:
* Reorients his body to navigating sidewalks, stairs and other tricky things without totally losing his balance
* Regains self-care skills, including shaving, dressing and cooking
* Remasters the pommel horse, one-handed kitten juggling and escaping straitjackets underwater
* Most importantly, relearns how to do all these things solo as he currently requires assistance for everything

You may be wondering, “If I donate to this campaign, where will my sweet dollar bills go?” No shortage of places, actually. Jimmy’s diagnosis affects every aspect of his swinging bachelor lifestyle. Here’s a very short list of things Jimmy can do with your donations:
* Pay his crazy medical bills and other bills (e.g., utilities) while on medical leave from work (this means he has no income)
* Hire a cleaning service to take care of his laundry and/or other household tasks
* Get transportation to and from physical therapy and, well, anywhere (he’s not driving anytime soon)
* Have healthy, low-sodium meals prepared and delivered to him
* Facilitate his quick recovery so he can get back to what he does best: cruising the strip in his bitchin’ Honda Fit and yeeting for the ladies on the dance floor

Long story short, we care a lot for Jimmy and we want to make sure he has whatever he needs on this long road to recovery. Anything you can give helps, and we’ll make sure he doesn’t blow it all on Star Trek memorabilia.

Finally, if you are not able to donate money, please consider donating your time by signing up for Jimmy’s Meal Train . Note that you will need to create an account in order to participate.
