Dear family, friends, and supporters,

We are reaching out to you to share the heartbreaking news about our beloved family and friends, the Giles Family. Just a few days ago they were informed that Jimmy would be undergoing a second below-the-knee amputation after he endured the first leg amputation just months ago. His recovery is going to require a lot of time for extensive rehabilitation- he has a long and difficult road to endure ahead.

All of Jimmy and Kate’s family and friends have watched as over the last 5 ½ years they have faced endless setbacks regarding Jimmy’s health. It's been heartbreaking to watch their family deal with the emotional and financial toll of these terrible circumstances.

A little background information- Jimmy is a cancer survivor! He had childhood leukemia and against all odds, he beat it! While he was healthy for many years after his bone marrow transplant, he always knew that the cancer treatments left him immunocompromised.

Fast forward several years and he is a happily married, hard-working Dad to 3 beautiful daughters. They were living a great life- he was living his dream. In December 2017, just 2 months after his youngest daughter was born, Jimmy was admitted to the hospital for an infection in one of his feet. Since that first infection, Jimmy has spent countless days hospitalized for infections, undergone painful surgeries, and ultimately underwent the first below-the-knee amputation of a leg. While that was difficult, Jimmy and Katie managed to work as a team to get him home and together they figured out ways to navigate their family life after the loss of a limb while always having the girls’ best interest at heart. Now that his other leg has been amputated, that is no longer possible.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly to Jimmy and his family to help renovate their home so that he can continue to be the great Dad and Husband he’s always been (even through his illnesses). They need some renovations to help Jimmy access his home. They have A LOT of stairs and he will need an accessible bathroom and bedroom. Jimmy deserves to be able to live in a home in which he can re-learn to be independent and get back to being the best husband and dad for his family.
