Hello, I am Laura, Jimmy’s little sister. As you know, he needed a liver transplant and had started the transplant process over a year ago. By the Grace of God, he was given the generous donation of a new liver, new life by a selfless family and the loss of their loved one. The doctors told him they would do bariatric surgery at the same time of the transplant because this would ultimately help him and the new liver in the long run. This is the first time both procedures were done at the same time at Duke University Hospital.

As of now all is functioning except his kidneys, which are working but not to the full extent that they should be.

He is going to be sent home to finish his recovery but they are finding that certain medicines he must have to avoid rejection, medical equipment and at home care are not covered by insurance. The medical bills alone are astronomical, as you could imagine.

It has been all hands on deck while he was in the hospital, someone has to be with him at all times. And at home it will be the same. He needs constant care while his body works itself out.

I have never published a go fund me before but I do think it is necessary at this point to ask for help to ensure my Big Bro is able to get the medicines, equipment and in home care he needs to finish his recovery. If you know him, he is full of pride and would never ask for help in an any way. My sister-in-law wears a full time cape of Super Woman but she too cannot possibly do all this without help as it has now become a financial hurdle.

The support they have received of friends that have sat with him in the hospital, the food drop off’s and support from Jen-ai’s work family, it has made their hearts full and that is amazing!

Any help and support to ensure he has everything he needs to fully recover at home now is greatly appreciated and there could never be enough “thanks” in this world to anyone who helps him with this! ❤️
