On February 4, 2016, we received life changing news for my darling husband of 23 years, James Quinn, regarding his health. What we thought were allergies and sinus issues for the past 5 years quickly snowballed into something much, much bigger, something much, much scarier. CANCER!

At 65 years old, Jimmy was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer with Metastasis to his adrenal glands and possibly to his brain. Jimmy is now up against the fight of his life. Our lives have changed forever! The fear of the unknown is terrifying!
We all know firsthand that Jimmy is resilient, a fighter and a loving husband, father, brother and friend. With me by his side 24/7 as his dedicated care giver we know we can beat this beast! We have the loving support of our family and friends and we are so very thankful …

We are praying his Chemotherapy treatment will cure Jimmy’s cancer.  He has some of the top doctors in the nation on his team and has started his series of chemotherapy treatments.  We know God has a plan and will take care of Jimmy and hold Jimmy in his arms.

His first step was getting the CT scan, bronchoscopy and then his diagnoses… what a terrifying journey that was… Then his port placement was scheduled. We were told that will make the next steps more efficient and less painful. Jimmy spent 6 days in intensive care at South Lake Hospital after the Surgeon attempted to place the port in Jimmy’s chest. The surgeon diagnosed Jimmy with Atrial fibrillation and admitted him into the hospital, which lead to further testing and treatments to get his heart under control. Poor Jimmy trying to be a trooper going through hell and in pain.  Then a second attempt for port placement was successful and Jimmy’s Chemotherapy was finally scheduled.
Jimmy has begun his 1st Chemotherapy Series which includes 4 treatments- followed by PETscans, CT Scans, MRI’s and a second round of Chemotherapy and possibly radiation.

If you are here and reading this, chances are it's because you love Jimmy and want to help him beat Cancer!  We never knew the cost of a life threatening illness could be so astronomical and how much isn’t covered by Medicare. This has become a financialy stressful undertaking. Co-pays for prescriptions, treatment, tests and medical specialist range from $350. to $3,000. each. Unbelievable!  Our savings has been spent on our expenses due to our past year’s circumstances and all the medical expenses for the past three months. Jimmy sold his collectible car to help with our expenses and we intend to sell our home. We need to downsize – the cost of our home and an acre of land is more than we need to care for not to mention time consuming. It isn’t feasible right now for me to put the house on the market. Jimmy needs to be comfortable during his painful and grueling treatments. All of our energies need to be on Jimmy now. Our neighbors have been amazing, cutting our lawn, trimming our trees and I have been doing the same when I can. They have their lives, jobs and their lawns to take care of and we appreciate all they are doing for us…Thank you!

We are unsure how long his treatment will be at this point. The next series of PETscans, CT scans and MRI’s are scheduled for the end of May after his first series of treatments are complete.  The Specialist will evaluate the results and design his next series of treatments. They told us to expect at least 6 months of treatments…

I am fighting for Jimmy’s life and need to concentrate my efforts with Jimmy and his treatment and recovery. Our family and friends have been extremely supportive with their very generous gifts, their love and support is second to none. Thank you Cookie for flying down to Florida and taking care of Jimmy, cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping for us. Thank you so much.

Our family and friends have encouraged me to set up a GoFundMe and we have been too proud and very reluctant. At this point Jimmy needs to only concentrate on being positive, eating properly, staying active, resting and getting better. Cancer is a terrifying disease but we will not let it define us nor will we let it beat us! I know that God is on our side! We need to be fighting for Jimmy’s life and it is very difficult with our mounting bills, late fees and expenses. We are taking it one day at a time- that’s what they say to do…. but the day to day has become daunting!

I am now not too proud to ask for assistance, we just need to get through these next few months. Hopefully our financial situation will improve  soon and we will be back on our feet again sooner than later. We just need a little help at this point, truly no donation is too small and every dollar will help to ease the stress and the burden.

Your donations and support are greatly appreciated. Let's beat this Cancer together! Your prayers are welcomed and very much appreciated. We pray that God will lift this Cancer from our Jimmy and life will be good again. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! God Bless you and your families!
