Hit a Grand Slam for Jimmy!

Jimmy's story:
We first met Jimmy Ruiz on the baseball field when he was five years old. Jimmy was on our son's T-Ball team, and his dad was our coach. During the season we learned that Jimmy was ill. He had to put baseball on hold to get medical treatment. Jimmy's dad continued to coach, often commuting back and forth between the hospial and baseball practice in order to be there for our team. I still remember his dad telling us about how Jimmy could make the nurses in the hospital laugh with his great sense of humor.

Jimmy was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome when he was just two years old. Basically, his kidneys don't filter waste properly and his body excretes too much protein. Although his family has health insurance, there are some treatments, medications and even ambulance rides that aren't covered. For example, Jimmy's chemotherapy treatments alone can cost up to $7,000 per treatment, and he has them roughly twice a year.

Jimmy's family has been enduring all of these extra costs for over ten years, and have just now given us permission to ask for help on their behalf. The kind, friendly, and generous Ruiz family needs our help!

In addition to helping with continuing medical costs, we would like to raise funds to help the Ruiz family with living expenses and even enough send Jimmy to a special summer camp for children with illnesses. Any size donation you can give will be most appreciated.

While researcing the best way to use GoFundMe to help the Ruiz family, I came accross a statement written on a GoFundMe page for a little girl named Rosie Evenson (who is also still raising funds) which I'd like to adopt.

I have chosen to not specify an amount to raise for the Ruiz family because the needs truly are unknown and unpredictable. We want people to be able to give based on what they're led to give, not compelled to meet a big goal. It's so hard to 'ask' for funds and they would give ANYTHING to not be in this situation. The reality is that their needs are many and any amount is truly helpful. They will carry the burden of extra expenses for years even after treatment is finished.

Please share this GoFundMe page with anyone you think could help Jimmy and his wonderful family. We are very excited to be on a team with the Ruiz family once again. It's so great to see and hear absolutely everyone rooting for Jimmy and his team!
