Jim’s Real Undercover Jam
Our friend and brother, Jim Ormord, as many of you know, sings with the infamous and locally loved San Diego artists known as “UnderCover Jams”. What many of us don’t realize is the real “Undercover Jam”that Jim deals with everyday is a song he doesn’t find easy to sing.
Since the age of 37, Jim has faced 17 surgeries with a history of several Chronic Illnesses, including Kidney Failure, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Diabetes, an Organ transplant, and several amputations. He now faces pulmonary challenges; the onset of prescribed oxygen to maintain and this recent ER visit today, 8/17.
Our human spirit is conditioned that when we find ourselves in a jam, it’s so difficult to oblige others or ask for help. We’ve also been conditioned to easily serve and protect those we love and care for. It’s a natural human instinct, especially when we find others faced in a jam.
Long before the 17 year role that Jim served as a recognized public servant in Law Enforcement, with Miramar and SD City College, Protecting and Serving are gifts Jim knows all too well in his heart.
As a result, a few of us have developed this fundraiser to get Jim through this tough time. When we face life’s quiet jam, oftentimes, we try to muddle through on our own. To some, it may be a sad song. For Samaritan’s at heart, its our opportunity to find ourselves stopping to help a friend back on path and on life’s harmony to make the best of what we have.
As you’ve observed, this year Jim faced the recent amputation of his second leg. Our goal is to get him through several upcoming expenses and help him secure the prosthetic leg which is anticipated to be costly. In addition, his recent pulmonary issues are depleting his ordinary household budget and the foreseeable medical equipment and hospital bills, medical follow ups in the months to follow will definitely be an impact for our dear friend.
Please find it in your hearts to make a contribution of any capable denomination.
Let’s help Jim in his medical expenses which are becoming insurmountable with the recent amputation of his second leg, and the unknown road ahead. We have a goal to hit areas that might cushion a little breathing room for he and his wife, Paz. It certainly would be appreciated.
There’s an ancient Hawaiian saying:

No task is too big when done together.
