Last month JJ was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He had surgery and they removed the entire thyroid (come to find out, only one side was affected, but what can ya do ).
He did well through recovery and everything seemed to be back to normal after about two weeks. But then he started having really bad "gray days." Extreme brain fog, zero energy, no motivation, life was just gray for him... one of his coworkers described it perfectly by saying he went from Tigger to Eyore within 24 hours. It was scary. His mood has improved a bit since then, but things were pretty dark for him for a while.
He was scheduled for radiation therapy, but we have decided to hold off on that and explore other options. He had a consultation with a holistic doctor on Wednesday and we were both impressed with what they had to say so that's the route we are looking to take.
He has been off work since his surgery in November and will be off until at least January. Needless to say, it has been a very rough and stressful month. I hate hate HATE asking for help, especially financially because I know how bad everyone is struggling right now, but I will leave all my information at the end for anyone who wants to or feels a need to support us through this.
To add fuel to the fire, I just got a bill for ONE of Axel's emergency room visits last week that's over a thousand dollars (a whole other story on its own, but long story short, he choked on and swallowed a quarter). He's fine now though and has earned the nick name "piggy bank". ‍♀️
The community we live in and the few friends that know the situation have been absolutely wonderful and has helped in so many ways, but every day bills plus added medical bills are my number one concern right now.
So that's been life the past month. Prayers and advice are welcomed and greatly appreciated! I know we will get through this, but it's hard to see the light sometimes when you're right smack dab in the middle of things.
