Jackson Dewbre Jr. (JJ) Standing Frame

Dear Friends and Family,

I am reaching out to the friends and family of my sister Avery Dowsey and her partner of 18 years JJ (Jackson Dewbre Jr). As many of you know he had an extremely rare stroke in April of this year that was said by the Doctors to have left him paralyzed from the neck down, being diagnosed with “locked in” syndrome. Despite what the doctors diagnosed, JJ has slowly began to regain minimal movements from the neck down. With the rarity of the stroke no statistics are available as the recovery and quality of life that JJ will live. There is a limited time frame that Physical Therapy has to step in and go full force to the best of their capabilities. Avery, being the only source of income for their family of 5, has the determination to see put that JJ has the best resources that she can find regardless of what the insurance will cover (which is not much, or not enough for his current needs). She has been challenged with finding 24/7 home care, physical therapy, speech therapy, doctor appointments, getting supplies that he needs (which not all is covered) and is managing to keep a full time job and raise and support their 2.5 year old twins and a 14 year old. I am setting up this account to help her out because despite her determination and insistence to carry this all on her own, we would like to help in any way that we can. Physical therapy has highly suggested that the best thing to get right now would be a standing frame in order to help him practice standing. After researching, the best ones can range anywhere from $6-8k. Please, if you are able help to ease some of the financial burden off of my sister and help the chances of JJ standing again to be in his favor- we would appreciate your help and support in helping us raise these funds.
