We Were Scammed!!!

Hi, my name is Chris and my wife’s name is Barbara. In mid-July we were informed by our landlord that we needed to move because our house will be going into renovations. We found a house in the same town, closer to my work, with a decent rent price and utilities. This was a great deal for us. Although, it turned out we were being scammed by the person who claimed to be the owner of the home. This person was impersonating the actual owner. We were supposed to move in on 9/1 and the current tenant was supposed to meet me there to transfer the keys. That person was not there. He had never lived in the home. The person that was there had actually just moved in back in July. She advised me that someone a month ago had knocked on her door expecting the same thing we were. So we are not the only people that were scammed. We sent a security deposit, first months rent, and an HOA fee. We can never get that money back. I am embarrassed to put this on Facebook or Twitter but we are now in dire straits. We are not homeless, but we are out a lot of money due to our own naïveté. Any amount will help us resolve this situation. Thank you.
