Julia Legge A&E nurse - Kidney Cancer Operation

Hi, I am Emma,

I am raising funds for my best friend and a fantastic A&E nurse Julia Legge, who was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of kidney cancer which is affecting her spleen and further complication has developed in her Gallbladder..

Julia is living every day with pain that is slowly spreading across her body. Knowing that she has kidney cancer doesn’t stop her from working despite the pain she is having. I have never known anyone so selfless who would put others before herself. She is an inspiration to those around her. She led by example, well respected and admired by many including senior doctors and band 7 nurses.

Like myself, Julia and I have dedicated our lives to serving the NHS system, treating and caring for others. We nurses, are at the frontline of seeing patients with COVID, flu, and other life-threatening diseases. We have to deal with patients and families who lose loved ones every time we are on shift.

Julia needs urgent surgery and the NHS surgeon she is under isn't available until mid-January after he comes back from his holiday. I fear the worst for her if the surgery is delayed. She is her car but it is far from enough to cover the cost needed for the operation.

I am reaching out to my family members; friends and friends of friends to make a small donation to a good cause this Christmas and help Julia’s dream come true.

Update:

23/01/2023 - Still no operation date from the NHS and we are still far away from what is needed for a private op. Julia is in constant pain and becoming more and more unbearable.

22/12/2022 - The surgeon now looking at mid-late Feb before they will get around do Julia's op. This is absurd. She needs surgery done asap before it affects other organs.
