Help Ensure Harrison's Basic Needs Are Met!

Donation protected
I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my nephew, Harrison, who is 22 years old and living with cerebral palsy. Harrison requires round-the-clock care for every aspect of his daily life, from eating to moving about. He has been a resident at Pappas Rehab Hospital, a long-term care pediatric residential rehab, since the age of 10.

Unfortunately, Harrison and his family are facing an urgent and distressing situation. Despite his profound disabilities and the essential care he requires, the state-run school at Pappas Rehab Hospital has informed his parents that Harrison must be discharged by April 4th, 2024. Shockingly, the state has not provided a safe transition plan for him, as required by law.

Harrison's parents have tirelessly advocated for him, pleading with the school and state officials for assistance. They've even reached out to state representatives and numerous officials, but have hit dead ends. The only option presented to them is Tewksbury State Hospital, a facility primarily for criminals, where Harrison would be confined indefinitely.

Harrison's parents, who already struggle to make ends meet, need our help. They are seeking support for Harrison's urgent needs, which have been unjustly denied by MassHealth. These include essential items like a hospital bed, a Hoyer lift, a shower/toilet chair, bathroom modifications for wheelchair access, and a wheelchair ramp.

We refuse to let Harrison and others like him be forgotten or neglected by the system. They deserve to have their basic human needs met with dignity and compassion. It's time for us to speak up and take action.

Here's how you can help:

1. **Advocate**: Speak up for Harrison and others like him. Share his story with your state and local officials. Demand better care and support for individuals with disabilities.

2. **Donate**: If you're able, please consider making a donation to support Harrison's urgent needs. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in his life.

3.**Share**. Share his story! Let people know what is happening to these children.

Let's rally together to ensure that Harrison receives the care and support he deserves. Thank you for standing with us in this crucial fight for justice and dignity.
