Jacob Needs Our Help
Seven years ago my son Jacob Struss was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a heart condition caused by a gene mutation that causes the heart muscle to grow abnormally thick. Now 25 years old, Jacob’s condition has become critical and he needs our help!
Today we are asking for your prayers and that you consider a financial gift for Jacob to undergo heart surgery as soon as possible. Jacob is presently uninsured and his surgeon has informed him that his surgery cannot wait until he is eligible for open enrollment in December. This is not an elective surgery, it is medically necessary. The more time that lapses, the more critical his condition will become.
Jacob’s first surgery is scheduled for June 25, 2019. This surgery will be to implant a defibrillator to prevent sudden cardiac death.
While awaiting his surgery Jacob needs a LifeVest®, a personal defibrillator worn by those at risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). It will monitor Jacob’s heart continuously, and if he goes into a life-threatening arrhythmia, the LifeVest will deliver a shock treatment to restore his heart to a normal rhythm.
Jacob’s second surgery will be a procedure to help improve his heart’s blood flow.
We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease Jacob’s financial burden allowing him to pay for the upcoming surgeries, ongoing medical expenses, and living expenses while recovering. We know that if you look at the sum of $225,000 it seems overwhelming. Here is the breakdown:
The cost for Jacob’s first surgery is $72,000 with his second surgery estimated at $150,000. The rental for the LifeVest® is $3,700 per month.
What YOU can do to help Jacob:
1) GIVE whatever you can. No donation is too small (tax-deductible)
2) SHARE on social media
3) EMAIL this page to your family + friends.
We thank you for your support and prayers. May God bless each and every one of you!
Love to all,
The Bissen, Struss and Quigley Family
