Marcia's Heart & Lung Transplant
Donation protected
My aunt Marcia DeSerres was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) in October of 1999 when she was 36 years old. PH is a rare, debilitating disease in which high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs can lead to right heart failure. In my aunts case, Pulmonary Hypertension has very recently and quickly progressed and it is also effecting the left side of her heart. This is why she needs both a lung and a heart transplant. My aunt has been running a PH support group at the Lahey Clinic and in her community for several years now to help others with the disease. Her Doctors at the Lahey Clinic are recommending her to go to the Cleveland Clinic as they are the best in the country for these types of transplants.
This transplant will be very expensive because she will have to live in Cleveland and wait for the two organs to be ready also requiring her to stay for follow up appointments. If she cannot be stabilized long enough to be driven to Cleveland she will have to be medflighted which can cost around 20 thousand dollars alone. After the surgery she will need 24 hour care for several months. A family member or friend has to commit to taking care of her prior to even being put on the transplant list. My aunt is alone and does not have any children so the person making this commitment is my mother.
My aunt has family and friends that love her and need her in their lives, including her siblings Peter DeSerres, Alan DeSerres and my mother Renee (DeSerres) Liseno, and all of her nieces and nephews; Janine (DeSerres) Tadakosky, Brendan DeSerres, Peter DeSerres Jr., Andre DeSerres, Thomas Liseno, Drew Liseno and myself.
We all love her very much and want her to have the best care possible because she deserves it. Please give what you can every dollar counts!
Thank you,
Adria Liseno
