People To People Ambassador

Hello,
My name is Julianna Smith, I am in seventh grade and go to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. I have been selected to attend a trip to Japan to represent The United States of America for the People To People Ambassador program to become a global citizen. A global citizen is a person who has well developed skills such as leadership, collaboration, independence, maturity, and global awareness. People To People is an organization originally established in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. His mission was to bridge cultural and political borders through global education, resulting in global citizens for generations to come. A year later this ambassador program was launched. Since then, over 20,000 students have been involved in this program and it plays a significant effect on increasing global awareness, which is why about 82% of the student ambassadors get into their first choice college. Going to a Japan specifically is very important to me because it is rich in history, technology, and culture. But this trip isn’t just about me, this trip is also about educating people in Japan, let me give them a piece of American culture, technology, and history. I want to inspire others as well as letting others inspire me. Last year I lived in the Middle East and I think that that experience really opened up the world to me.
I have been working very hard for this trip because I think that it will educate me in a way that sitting in a classroom never could. My friends, family, and neighbors have been helping me achieve my goal in becoming a global citizen. I would immeasurably appreciate any donations to achieve my goal no matter how small. If you are not able to donate, I would also appreciate it if you could share my story to accomplish my fundraising objective.
Thank you for all of your support! -Julianna Smith
