skate a thon for Jackson family
Donation protected
The Roe City Rollers are hosting a Skate-a-thon for the Jackson family to help raise money necessary for their medical bills and travel expenses. They are a family of 6, who recently lost their home in Choudrant after receiving devastating news about the health of Chad, 33, and Bailey, who is only 6. Bailey has complete autonomic dysfunction, which is a condition where the brain, blood pressure, and heart all misfire; she also has postural orthodontic to tachycardia syndrome and all of her conditions will get worse with age. They travel between Dr. King in West Monroe and heart specialists in New Orleans at Ochsner's Children's Hospital monthly. She is having a device implanted on January 9 in New Orleans to help doctors keep a close eye on her heart. Chad was diagnosed in June with a rare condition that has destroyed his lungs. He has AAT, known as Alpha One Antitrypsin deficiency. He has been given two years at most without a double lung transplant to save his life. They travel to Baylor in Texas for his treatment, so they must drive long hours in opposite directions in order to get them the help they need and are in a huge financial struggle, especially having to raise the funds for his transplant which will cost them roughly 20% of 650,000 dollars.
All donations will be going directly to the Jackson family. If you are interested in donating, please do so here. If you are interested in sponsoring a skater for the skate-a-thon, please contact one of your local Roe City Roller, April Burke, at [email redacted].com or [phone redacted]. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
