Service Dog Training

Hello Everyone!

I am reaching out to all friends and family to help raise finances to train our Goldendoodle, Charlie to be a service dog for Abigail.

Most of you know Abigail story, but for those of you who don't; here we go!

Abbie was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in October of last year. She recently has been seen by a developmental pediatrician, who has also diagnosed her with Intellectual disability and hyperkinesis developmental delay.

Abbie attends ABA therapy 40 hours a week to help manage behaviors and learn to communicate. Although she has progressed, we don't know what the future holds for her. She continues to be non-verbal and struggles tremendously with communicating her needs and wants. Abbie does not have any since of danger and is at risk for elopement.

We have had Charlie for about a year now. He is so entuned with Abbie and gets along great with her. He is often very upset and "cries" when Abbie has meltdowns or is overwhelmed. He tries to comfort her. My goal is to have Charlie trained specifically for Abbies' needs. His training would include behavioral intervention with keeping her away from the stove and other dangerous things, he would act as a tether for her out in public, he would be trained to retrieve if she were to wonder off, and deep pressure therapy for her meltdowns and times of being overwhelmed.

Charlie would also have a vest with a handle for her to hold on to, and we would incorporate her PECS on to her vest to help with her communication while being out in public.

His program would be a 6-month program of intense training. It also would be giving me the tools to continue his training with Abbie once he is home.

I feel that this would aide in Abbie development and over all safety in her life.

I ask for help in funding this for our sweet girl.
