Hi everyone. I never thought I would be in a situation where I would be setting one of these up, any help would be greatly appreciated.
My dad flew out to Thailand on on 16th February to kick start his retirement and celebrate his 60th birthday on 13th March. Since being there he has fallen ill. On 21st February it started with thrombosis of the stomach which caused blood clots in both of his legs, he was unable to walk. This has cost £15000 which he has had to pay for.
After sorting that out, he then began to swell, and it came to light that his kidneys are failing and he has been put on dialysis. The medical bill is now standing at over £40,000 and his insurance won’t help as he didn’t disclose all of his medical history.
We have spoken to the British embassy and they are opening a case and speaking directly with the hospital to get actual funds owed and treatment needed as the language barrier between his wife and us is restricting.
we have also spoken to a number of medical air services who said they could have him home in 2-3 days with a doctor and nurse on board and ambulance waiting in the uk to take him straight to hospital and also able to give him dialysis on the plane but they have quoted between £120 and 140k!
Any help from any one would be so appreciated and we would be forever grateful. We just want to get him better and get him home!
