Save Gatsby

Hi, my name is Ann-Marie, I am a single mum to my daughter Mollie, and 3 beautiful cats … who are my world, and very much ‘my family’.
After sadly losing my previous cat, Indy in lockdown, we decided our family was missing the love of our boy and we fell in love with Gatsby and his brother, Figaro.
Gatsby has always been an adventurous boy and sadly this last time he went out, he has come back after four days having either been hit by a car, or attacked or mauled. He cannot use his back leg and has a broken thigh just above his knee. He has long cuts on the lower leg, and is clearly suffering and crying out.
The vets have assessed him, and he needs urgent surgery to pin his leg back together…. Or he will need to be put to sleep.
He is only 2 years old, and so full of life and love (he is purring for us and cuddling us even in his pain). He is such a charming little character and brings us so much joy, and for me has been a blessing through a difficult time. You’d never meet a cuter little floof.
We had understood that we had insurance to cover this eventuality, however this was something provided by my daughters dad, and we have just found out does not cover him.
The surgery to fix his leg will cost at least £3,000, plus additional fees to X-ray and follow up.
I am disabled, have no family to help with sudden emergencies and I am unable to work full time, so simply do not have this money available at all, and was reliant on the insurance.
I have checked with charities today, to seek any help re his surgery, and asked the vet to offer a payment plan, but no help is available.
At the moment he is due to have surgery on Monday, but if I cannot raise the funding, it is likely I will have to euthanise Gatsby or relinquish ownership to a charity that may then do the same.
He is so very beloved by us and this would be devastating.
Any funds raised here will go directly to fund the surgery, for Gatsby, essentially to save his life. This means everything to us and would mean we can then give him the life he deserves as well as him continuing to be part of our small family.
I think our hearts will break if we cannot save his life.
Please, give what you can, no matter how small, and share this to raise awareness.
Thank you for reading this and for your kind support.
