My name is Jo (they/them) and I’m a transmasc person living in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Canada. I’ve known for a long time that I didn’t fit into the gender binary but only in the last few years have experienced great dysphoria around my physical body. Top surgery is something I’ve dreamt of for a long time and finally being able to receive GAC (Gender Affirming Care) is life-changing for me. I know that this surgery will not change the fact that many may still view me as a woman but this is something that I know will make me feel better about the skin I live in.
Jo has been approved for top surgery here in Ontario on April 25, which is mostly covered by OHIP. We need help covering the cost of contouring and some other expenses, which are outlined below. We understand that this is a financially challenging time for many, so even the tiniest contribution is greatly appreciated. If money is too tight, love and support are always appreciated. If we surpass our goal, the remainder will be donated to The Trevor Project.
- Contouring - $3051
- Flights - $600
- Car Rental - $200
- Misc Medical Supplies - $150 (e.g., ice packs, medical binders)
Total: $4000
