Joanna Holy Elk Face

Hello Friends, Family and Community. I would like to introduce you to Elder, Joanna Holy Elk Face, of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Joanna is a 70-year-old mom of 5 children and many grandchildren. She is also a traditional dancer and very active within her community to contribute support to those in need, dancing in powwow, and mentoring the youth. You will find her during the week attending sweat, going to a talking circle, beading class and encouraging others to find their way back to their Indigenous ways.

Elder Joanna has fallen on challenging times with 3 surgeries on the horizon due to her being diabetic on top of ever-increasing rent in Denver. She has recently come out of retirement to pay for the increase in bills but could use the support of the community.
