Jocelyn Hopson Lupus Battle

Hello, my name is Jessica Richie, mother of Jocelyn Hopson. 7 ½ months ago, Jocelyn was diagnosed with Lupus. She had been keeping it under control until August 27th. She went to the ER with complications from the Lupus but was treated and sent home because they didn’t have any available rooms. She had to return the next day, and they finally admitted her. Since then, everything has been going downhill for her health-wise.

Her immune system is fighting against her. Swelling in her lower extremities, kidneys failing, muscle deterioration on the right side of her body, and fluid building on her lungs, to list a few of the things going on with her right now. Doctors are working to reduce some of the systems so that she can be transferred to UT Southwestern, where there are specialists that can better assist with her condition. Unfortunately, once she is released, she will not be able to return to work for at least 90 days due to having to undergo physical therapy until she can get her strength back into the right side of her body.

Jocelyn is a single mother and sole provider of two daughters, ages 12 & 8. She has been employed for seven months, but unfortunately, they don’t provide PTO, sick days or anything else until after a year of employment.

I am trying to raise money to assist with her upcoming bills since she cannot work. Any funds raised will go towards her rent, children, utilities and car note.
