Jodi is working hard to beat cancer again

Hello. My name is Jerry Elam and I'm posting about my wife, Jodi, who recently found out she has Stage 3-B colorectal cancer. Jodi is only 58, and this is her second major battle with cancer. In 2005 she was diagnosed with Stage 3 brain cancer at age 40, and we thought as she was nearing 20 years cancer free that she was out of danger of reoccurrence. A few months ago she went to her PCP complaining of severe stomach and rectal issues, and after tests she was diagnosed with colitis. Symptoms worsened and after seeing a gastro doctor and being admitted to the hospital, they performed a colonoscopy and discovered a large tumor in the rectum. She is now completing week 6 of radiation and completed five weeks of chemo in an attempt to shrink the tumor which was blocking over 90% of her rectum. She was a tick away from the tumor being Stage 4 which is often inoperable and fatal. But she remains positive, most of the time, but realizes there's still a long road ahead. What bothers her a lot is that she had to quit her job as a mental health counselor in Fort Myers where daily she helped others through whatever brought them to therapy. Jodi keeps saying she's sorry she brought this financial hardship onto the family, but she knows it's something totally out of her control. Thankfully we purchased a better insurance policy for her in January through Marketplace, but her insurance doesn't cover everything. Under normal circumstances, I would never go public with our situation, but we would greatly appreciate your prayers and support. I just know Jodi is going to beat cancer again!
