Jodi Newkirk loved being in nature. It was where she felt strong and capable. She returned the solace that nature gave her by loving the land she lived on and the animals in her care.
After a childhood filled with trauma, abandonment, and abuse, Jodi struggled most of her adult life. There was nothing that made her try harder for a better future than her children, whom she loved with all her heart.
In August of this year, Jodi landed what she thought was her dream job as a ranch hand. She felt she was finally on that path to a better future, after 46 years of struggle and strife. She fell in love with the mountain community, where the sprawling ranch was located. She dedicated 16 hours of her day to the animals and the open land.
As with many survivors of abuse, mistreatment was familiar to Jodi. There at the ranch, her final place of employment, she died under suspicious circumstances. We have come to find out that Jodi died on the same property where another woman went missing a year and a half ago, and tragically, remains missing.
Two weeks after her death, homicide detectives continue to investigate Jodi’s death, as we, her family, and chosen family wait for answers.
We are raising funds to cover the funeral and last expenses for Jodi Newkirk. As well as financial help with her final expenses, we humbly ask that you share this page as we desperately need answers at this tragic time.
For all the complications of her life, she was deeply loved. She leaves behind two teenage children and a family who will miss her dearly. Please help us to honor her and share her story.
We are planning services to be held at Living Free Animal Sanctuary in Mountain Center, CA. We will keep this site updated, as well as her memorial website linked below.
