Jodie's Fight

Donazione protetta
It’s difficult to know where to begin, or even to comprehend, but let me try and share the struggles that my Sister has been faced with….
At the age of 17, a time where most other young girls her age were attending parties, meeting boys and making poor life choices, Jodie was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This is where the fight to survive began. Do you remember your 18th birthday? what did you do? was it everything you imagined? Jodie celebrated her 18th Birthday, laying in a hospital bed post life saving surgery. Recovery was a struggle, and slow, one day at a time, however in true Jodie spirit, she bounced back like the warrior she is and survived.
Again in 2015, tragedy stuck. Jodie was diagnosed with  cervical cancer and had no other option but to undergo a full hysterectomy at the age of 33. The physical, psychological and emotional impacts this had on Jodie and her family was devastating, however once again, like the warrior she is, she survived.
Jodie has 5 beautiful children,  Keisha, Tyson, Jakyla, Memphis and Malyki and a supportive husband, Pete. Life was pretty perfect. The love Jodie has for her family is like no other, she is and always has been an amazing Mother, Sister, Aunt Daughter and Friend. Jodie has always been determined and passionate about her work ethic, allowing her to provide for her family physically, emotionally, and financially is especially important to her. Jodie has recently left her position at the local hospital, to pursue a career in disability support, allowing her to showcase her caring and empathetic nature, to make a positive impact to the lives of others.
Now let me take you to now….. the devastating and life changing moments of today, tomorrow, and yesterday. My amazing sister, friend and companion, passionate Mother of 5 and loved Wife, daughter cousin and friend, on 2/10/2020 was diagnosed with a brain tumor of the cerebellum. This has sent the whole family into a whirl. Is mum ok? How will we survive? Will mum be strong enough to get through this again? How will I support my family? Will my family be ok?
Jodie is required to undergo lifesaving surgery on 15/10/2020. The cerebellum's main roles lie in motor functions and the coordination of movement and balance, intense rehabilitation will be required and months to recover post-surgery, placing not only physical and emotional strain on Jodie and her family, but also financially.
Now Jodie is one not to ask for help, in fact she would be the first to offer help to others, and then not accept in return. However, in such circumstances, Jodie and her family need help. Any donation will make a difference in easing the financial burden and assisting Jodie and her family during this devastating time.
