Jody Cook
Donation protected
My name is Angelia Hughes and I’m the granddaughter of Angie Cook. I’m making this to help offset the cost of the funeral of her son Jody.
My sweet grandmother wrote the following in regards to this situation:
“We had hoped to manage a fundraiser, offering art and craft items for donations. And that may be something we can do in time, but not during the holiday season. The need is more immediate than such a thing will allow.
My son, Jody Michael Cook was found dead, under a bridge, after he apparently had a heart attack. Jody is known in many parts of the country as a traveling man. One who travels with his dog. It is hard to explain all his wanderings to anyone who didn’t know him, so I will just tell you a little about the man himself. He was so loving that he would push his dog in a shopping cart; or on the seat of a bicycle; or pull him in a wagon to keep from wearing down the pads of his paws. Jody never met a stranger and was willing to turn his hand to any handiwork to earn his bread and make his own way, yet humble enough to ask for help when necessary. He found beauty and wisdom in simple things, because he paid attention. He was a man with many talents, but the force that kept him on the move got worse as he grew older. He could build amazing things, as some of his clients told me, like a patio that wrapped around a tree in a near-natural way. But material things were not important to him, and putting down roots seemed impossible. He bore many troubles in his mind as he walked, camped, hitched, climbed mountains, sought shelter… even created cardboard huts which he insulated with found materials. All the while putting the needs of his dog before his own. Animals are sometime smarter and more loyal than people. So I will let them speak for me. Jody’s dog, who never left his side, and a cat he had adopted just a month ago went to get help when they knew he was in trouble. And lead someone back to discover his body. Without them, we may have never known what happened to our dear Jody.
I had a little bit set back to build toward my own funeral costs, which I used to put down on Jody’s. That money is freely given to bury my boy next to his daddy and sister (also recently lost), but it wasn’t enough, and this also leaves me without any emergency resources. This is painfully honest and laid bare for all to see.
Any amount you would like to give to help us out in this time of need will be greatly appreciated. And if and when we can put together the art/craft thing, which I cannot promise an expected date, you will be remembered if you send me your contact information.”
If you would like a piece of her artwork or craft in return for your donation then please send me your contact information through this page.
