Help Jody fight cancer.

If you know her, then you’re an incredibly lucky person. Her warmth and kindness fills a room, and she will always go out of her way for her family and friends.

In 2021, Jody, my mum, was diagnosed with cancer and since then she has been fighting the big fight like the warrior she is.

Through the harshness of chemo and other drugs, she has continued to keep her love of life and fighting spirit about her, however, with such treatment, working has become near impossible, especially on the days that she tries to hide from us all with her big smile, infectious laugh and raging sense of humour. So as you might imagine, money is tight.

I am organising a go-fund-me for my mum to under-go a genetic test through a company called Genostics, it is based on molecular medicine and the entire expense is out of pocket.

Because Jody’s cancer has become more widely spread, we are now searching for a more aggressive approach to get her cancer free, or at the very least, prolong her life for many, many more years.

Jody has received the normal “standard of care” provided in Australia and we are so grateful for all kindness of staff and medical practitioners along the way, as well as the costs that are covered, however the standard care that cancer patients receive does not take into consideration the over all genetic architecture of a particular persons tumour / tumours and for this reason some patients end up with a worse relapse which we are now seeing with my beautiful mum.

This analysis helps identify targeted drugs that would be most effective for a particular cancer, (rather then the labelled drugs that, most of the time, are given to cancer patients regardless of their kind of cancer).

It is imperative that the genetic architecture of the tumour is studied comprehensively, which will be personalised to Jody and her disease.

To have mums bloods and reports sent to the U.K, and ultimately have a new, more tailored plan of attack, it costs $7,800.
