Joe and Lynn Ollis Need Financial Assistance
Donation protected
Hello all, my name is Sandy Bumgarner Clontz, and I’m fundraising for my sister Lynn Bumgarner Ollis, and my brother in law, Joe Ollis. Many of you know them around Spruce Pine, NC. They’ve raised 3 daughters, and now have 6 grandchildren. They’ve been a hardworking family for many years. However, due to injuries and recurring surgeries in 2019-2020, they were both unable to work. In 2020, they both lost their jobs as medical leave had expired. Neither were released by their doctors to return to work. Lynn was eligible for early reduced retirement, but Joe was not. Disability for Joe has been denied for over two years. Joe has physically been unable to work since 2019. Lynn cared for our mother for 18 months before her passing last fall. Then Lynn took on being a delivery driver in the Asheville area for Uber to help make ends meet. Two weeks ago, she fell and injured her back. Then, Sunday, May 15th, Joe fell at home and broke his femur, on the same leg he’s had 2 unsuccessful knee replacements. Due to no insurance with the loss of his job, (and who can afford Cobra), Joe refused to go to the hospital for several hours. He was worried about paying for treatment. He ended up at Mission in Asheville and had to have trauma surgery to place a rod and two screws in his leg. He was released from the hospital two days ago. He will have to undergo physical therapy. Lynn is presently unable to work with her back injury, but will be caring for Joe. Our entire family would appreciate your love and kindness shown with any donation you willingly make. The funds will be used for living expenses and medical bills. We also ask for continued prayers for Lynn and Joe as they weather this storm. Thank you!
