Joe Barna Quartet Summer Tour and Recording

Hello,

My name is Joe Barna. I’m a drummer, composer and bandleader currently residing in Troy, NY. I’ve spent the past 8 years devoted to cultivating an exciting jazz scene in my hometown and I’d like your help in fulfilling this fundraising effort.

In late winter of 2020, during my very first tour as a leader, my group was stopped in mid route and sent back home. We were devastated, as were so many others, to have our dreams and goals put on hold. Instead of complaining I tied up my boot straps and led the charge in keeping the music alive in my hometown. I started 3 weekly residencies employing hundreds of musicians, started a world class jazz concert series, released 4 live albums and built up my own venue to present a variety of genres as often as I’m able to afford it.

After 4 years committed to creating opportunities, building a flourishing scene and helping to subsidize many community efforts the time has come for my band to go back out and pursue that which was taken from us back in March of 2020.

What I have organized is a tour that will conclude with my first studio recording in 20 years. I have released 6 live albums in that time as a leader, but it’s time to have the controlled environment of a world class studio to document the sound, style and beauty this music deserves.

The tour begins June 1st and will come to its conclusion on Sunday, June 23rd of 2024. The states travelled will include New York and Tennessee. The booking has been completed and the band has been assembled.

For this milestone in my career I have chosen musicians who I love, respect, admire, enjoy listening to and offer a fresh perspective in regards to fully realizing the potential of my original songs.

The quartet will feature:

Now that everything in place to embark on

our special journey the only obstacle remaining is to raise the funds necessary to fulfill the monumental financial demands that lay ahead.

In this time we live it is extremely difficult to simply be a full time performing artist. There are less opportunities and more musicians worthy of wider recognition. We all need a little help from fans, friends, family and community members.

I have made the ultimate commitment to forging and facilitating many opportunities for others this past 8 years. I’ve given all I have physically, financially and artistically to my community. Of course I’ve had help from others along the way and deeply appreciate every gift I’ve received. However, I’d like to once again test the waters and bring my original music to a wider audience.
