Help Joe Beauchamp fight leukemia
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Theresa and I am raising money to help my husband fight cancer. He has worked hard his entire life, taking care of his family and contributing to his community. He has been a good father, husband, brother, and friend.
Six weeks ago Joe began feeling tired and a little bit weak. He started having trouble with his balance and fevers. He lost interest in favorite activities and people. It seemed like he was depressed. This went on for a couple weeks getting worse as time passed. We had made a doctors appointment but, it was still a few weeks away. So, we waited, until he started getting huge bright purple bruises all over his body. I knew something was really wrong then and we called the doctor again. This time the nurse had me describe his symptoms. When I was finished the exact she used were “call an ambulance and get him to the emergency room now”. So that’s what I did. I took him to the emergency room and they discovered that his white blood cells were over 150,000 and his red blood cells were 8. If you don’t know what that means it’s okay, I didn’t either. It means that my wonderful, generous, funny husband was days if not hours from being a cherished memory.
He spent three weeks at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. They diagnosed the type of leukemia he has, started him on a chemotherapy treatment plan called 7+3.
That’s seven days of one type of chemotherapy and three days of another type. With two weeks in between to recover and get ready for the next phase.
He is at home now, resting and recovering. He goes back for his second chemotherapy treatment in two weeks. He’s in good spirits most days but it is difficult for him. He is used to being able to work and go out and enjoy his life but, that’s not currently possible. He is severely immunocomprimised and has to mask and use special measures to bathe and wash his hands. He requires special medical equipment and medication. Even special soap and cleaning products. He is not able to work and is in danger of losing his insurance.
We are very used to taking care of ourselves but, again, that’s just not possible right now. We don’t normally ask for help either, we’re the kind of people who usually help others so we’re in an unfamiliar situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He will be so grateful and every cent will go towards his medical care and maintaining a safe environment for him. Blessings to those who donate and those who would but are unable. We’ll even take prayers and good vibes. Thank you everyone, love and blessings to you all.
