Joe Brady

On July 31, 2022, 50-year-old Joe Brady left on a two week vacation with his two daughters, his girlfriend Sophia, & her two boys. They had a fun filled vacation planned; camping in Maine then on to Canada to visit relatives and ending the vacation hiking up Mt. Washington.

But Joe started not feeling so good on their way North. After a few days of feeling miserable & hardly able to take a full breath, they decided to cut the vacation short & get back home. They made it as far as Rumford, Maine (8/9/22). 911 was called & Joe ended up in the ER of Rumford Hospital. This hospital was not equipped to handle acute respiratory problems, so he was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine and placed on a ventilator and put in a medically induced coma, so his lungs could rest & heal. He had somehow developed a severe bronchial infection that coupled with his acute asthma attack provided the doctors with no alternative.

This strong, young, strapping, independent, caring and athletic man was rendered helpless. Numerous unsuccessful attempts have been made to get him off the ventilator. Consequently, he has developed bacterial pneumonia – not uncommon for people that are intubated for a long time. On top of that, this poor guy has now tested positive for COVID. CT scans have shown COVID related blood clots in his lungs. This guy can’t catch a break!! His doctors have said that if they can’t get him off the ventilator soon, they will have to do a tracheotomy (a hole in his neck) so he can breathe on his own.

Joe Brady is a kind selfless man who loves his daughters dearly and is a wonderful role model for his girlfriend’s sons whom he treats as if they were his own. He is always thinking of others and living his life in a way that betters those around him.

This Gofund Me page is being established to 1. help with medical expenses. At this point, we do not know what or if his insurance will cover. 2. pay his bills while he is in the hospital and
3. Help pay for gas and hotels expenses for Sophia until Joe can be transferred to Rochester. Any money collected & not used for these purposes will be donated to pulmonary research.

It has been and will continue to be a long haul for his family for the foreseeable future. We continue to take one day at a time. Anything that you can contribute would be gratefully & humbly appreciated. Also, for all you prayer warriors out there – Please Pray!
