Joe Catron’s Unforeseen Expenses
Donation protected
Friends, family and everyone in-between: I am starting this GoFundMe as I watch Joe Catron and I’s children (Brett and Laura) having to make the hardest decisions of their lives (they are doing such a great job). This news has come very sudden , and has been extremely hard to process. Brett and Laura have been by Joe’s side through this painful journey, and I would like to make it a little easier on them financially (including after life expenses). Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart.
Joe’s unexpected journey:
On June 5th 2023, Joe Catron drove himself to the emergency room complaining about confusion and chest pain. Little did we know, later that day we would be receiving heartbreaking news. The MRI showed a 5 cm tumor on the left side of his brain, they scheduled emergency surgery for the next day (that was a very tough day, we had to say our goodbyes as surgeries has its complications), Laura and Brett never left his side. Joe remarkably recovered from surgery and had won his first fight against cancer (Brett and Laura did a great job of taking care of him post surgery). Although the neurosurgeon informed us that the tumor was a grade 4 Glioblastoma, he was also happy to tell us that he had removed about 90% of the tumor. Three weeks later, the doctors devised a treatment plan consisting of 5 days a week of radiation and 7 days a week of chemotherapy. Joe was in very high spirits and was ready to go to war with cancer. A couple of days after his first appointment with the radiation oncologist, Joe began having unbearable head pain. He was taken to the ER on 7/12 where they preformed a CT scan and found that the tumor had completely grown back and was bigger than before. At this time, Brett and Laura (Joe left all the medical decision making to them), with the recommendations of his doctors decided that hospice would be the best choice for quality of life (it was a very hard decision). Doctors said that Joe’s time is very limited.
Thank you,
