Help Joe fight Cancer!

Donation protected
I’m writing this on behalf of my Dad. He is the bread winner for my mother and my niece that they have custody of - and he is dying. We need a little help.

Oftentimes the givers in life struggle the most with asking for and accepting help when they need it most. And if you have the privilege of knowing my dad (who didn’t have to be) Joseph Gault, you know he is a kind and generous soul. From the love of his life, Judy, to his seven children, his grandchildren, his friends and everyone else who surrounds him, he gives. His wife Judy and his granddaughter Madi (who they together are currently raising) are the light of his life.

Joe inspires people to act selflessly when friends and family are in need. I cannot tell you how many times he has gone out of his way to help, regardless of what is going on in his own life. He’s been known to take on more than he can handle because he is so thoroughly committed to not only the people he loves, but also his church family, his neighbors, and the people who come into his life whose purpose is unknown.

About a year ago, Joe was diagnosed with stage IV Colon Cancer. He had colectomy surgery to remove the polyps, a few lymph nodes and a portion of the colon. He began chemo treatments and continued to work as long as he could. The chemo took a toll though, and he was forced to stay home while he continued to fight.

Round after round of chemo treatments came and went. Joe had a follow up CT scan that confirmed that the cancer had metastasized. He now has Metastatic (stage IV) Colorectal Cancer. He has multiple spots in his liver and continued chemo treatments were not going to be able to fix that. He is now terminal.

Joe sought out more opinions and treatments and has now been accepted into Clinical trials. They are aggressive long shot measures in which luck will play a role in saving his life or at least prolonging it. His first round was so aggressive that he ended up in the hospital. Now, he is home and the treatments have been adjusted. But he needs some help.

We want to focus on the things we can control by coming to his aid. Joe is someone who works tirelessly, completely devoted to his faith, his family, friends, neighbors and even strangers. While it's absurd that anyone would have to lean on friends for help with expenses when just trying to stay alive, that’s the world we live in. He can no longer work and bills are mounting up. He’d also really love to make a few memories with the family. Let’s return the favor that Joe would unquestionably grant of us by donating to him, even just a small amount. And if nothing else, sharing, praying and sending all the love and positive energy his way would mean the world to him and our family.
