The Joe Krokus Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Joseph John Krokus, Rutherford, NJ.  In honor of our 53 year-young beloved father, son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle and treasured friend, we ask that in lieu of flowers, please paint your front door yellow. Or lime green. Or the bright color of your choice as this was Joe’s home design trademark.  While you’re at it, SMILE. A high voltage smile coupled with laughter. Guaranteed that Joe will be smiling and laughing back.  We invite you to please honor Joe, not with flowers, but with kindness to yourself and others. You are welcome to make donations here.   All monies will be transferred to the Joe Krokus Memorial Fund, a non-profit organization raising funds for stroke research and youth scholarships.

Joe passed away on August 29, 2021 due to COVID-19 while visiting family in Delray Beach, Florida. The family would like to thank the countless people who prayed for Joe including the nurses who cared for him. They are God’s angels who’s kindness and dedication strengthened Joe with grace and courage when family was not allowed to be there.  We are eternally grateful and know that even in his darkest moments Joe’s light kept them near and in turn, will keep him near each of us in our times of need.

While it was hard to miss Joe when he entered a room, he easily found you, listened to you, and may have even fixed a problem for you. Joe was born in Westwood, NJ on December 10th, 1967, the first of four children to loving parents, Joseph Henry Krokus (deceased) and Paola Rita Krokus (née Corra), long-time residents of Norwood, NJ. A graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School Old Tappan and Farleigh Dickenson University, style found Joe early in life. He rocked a mullet and leather ties before MTV endorsed personal expression. Joe’s career in sales and technology allowed him to travel the world touching hearts along the way. His passion for real estate, design and general contracting converged in his successful home remodels, but his true love was family. His nine nieces and nephews adore him and argue over who really IS Uncle Joey’s favorite. He made them each feel as if they were his greatest pride and joy. That spot however, is unequivocally devoted to his son, Grayson Joseph Henry Krokus. An honors student, Grayson shares his father’s love for golf and the two were often found on soccer fields and basketball courts.
Joe’s bright smile and caring ways will be especially missed and lovingly remembered by his beautiful mother Paola; his son Grayson whom Joe shared joyously with former spouse, Tina; his siblings Jean her husband Joe, their children Joseph, Michael and Nicholas; Jennifer her husband Dave, their children Dahlia, Eve and Colton; John his wife Christy, their children Cole and Tyler; and not to be forgotten, his closest friends most of whom became honorary members of the Krokus family.

Please help us celebrate Joe’s legacy on September 15, 2021, 11:00 am, Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 S. Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida. Or, on October 1, 2021, 10:30 am,  Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, New York with an Open House Celebration of Life from 1 pm to 5pm, Upper Montclair Country Club, 177 Hepburn Rd, Clifton, NJ .  To honor Joe’s bright spirit, please wear or bring something yellow and, if you would like to leave a few words to rest with Joe, please bring a 3x3 post-it sized note with your message.
