UPDATE,JAN. 5TH 2024 -JOE WENT TO HEAVEN LAST NIGHT.
Prayers for his family during this very difficult time. Marci’s best friend and fiancée, Joe, passed last evening at Westchester Medical Center. He had been there since November. Please send her and her family all your love.

UPDATE SUNDAY 12/17 - Joe is still in Westchester Medical Center and the fungus infection had gone to his spine and eye. They are trying a new treatment that requires him to stay in the hospital for 2 - 3 more months. Marci is doing her best to juggle Joe's needs and trips to NYC to be with him, her home, her family, and her job. The entire family is stressed both mentally and financially. We would like to thank everyone for their support and ask for your continued prayers. WE send you our wishes that you all have a Happy, HEALTHY, and Blessed Christmas and New Year.

Today, 12/9, is Joe's Birthday. The kids went down to Westchester (just a day trip) to be with him for his birthday. Turning 42 in a hospital 200 miles from home has to be hard. Joe has had multiple injections directly into his eye for the fungus infection. The only other change is they are now saying that he will need to stay in the hospital 2 - 3 more months for a very powerful and risky treatment. Please continue to pray.

UPDATE - 12/6 - Joe is still in Westchester Medical Center and is fighting hard. The fungus has spread to his eye and spine. His team of doctors are still stumped. They are now consulting with infectious disease experts at the MAYO Clinic in hopes of some new and different guidance in search of a way to stop the fungus infection that keeps invading different parts of his body. Please say a prayer.

Hello –
My name is Terry Blackman. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Joseph Reed, my daughter’s (Marcia Roth’s) partner for 6 years, is severely ill with a fungus infection of the blood. He has had 10 major surgeries since May including two open heart surgeries and has had his aorta replaced, twice – the first time the aorta was replaced, then it became infected again by the fungus leaving him with a Teflon tube bypass down his right side from the second aorta operation). At this time his team of doctor find his next course of treatment baffling. He has also had multiple strokes that have left him weak on one side and with no feeling in his right arm. Joe was a truck driver and was a wonderful provider for Marci and her two children until this terrible illness. He has treated Brandon and Ali like they are his own, and they love him dearly.
As a truck driver, Joe was making very good money, and being without his income since May, and not knowing when or if he will be able to return to work has taken a terrible toll on their finances and their mental health. Marci is trying to maintain her job and is working remotely when traveling to be with Joe, but this can not begin to cover their household expenses and all of the traveling and extra expenses incurred due to Joe’s illness. Marci has also had to travel many times to Westchester NY where Joe is being hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center. He was air lifted there from Wilson Hospital the first time and has been sent back two more times by ambulance.
We truly appreciate your time and consideration and know that this is a difficult time for many people. If you find that you can help out, we are grateful for any contribution. If not, your prayers can also make a big difference. If you would share this with your friends and family, it would mean the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
