Update, Joe Riker would like to thank everyone for their kind and generous donations.
He is very thankful for the support of all that have helped him through this difficult time in his life.
From all the people that have helped wether medically, built the cabin, contributed towards the cabin or kindly offered financial help he is profoundly appreciative and feels blessed beyond words and can't thank you enough.
God bless
Hi my name is Bill Timmons a friend of Joe Riker for over 35 years.
In September of 2014 Joe a resident since 1988 to mason county Michigan was sitting at a stoplight on the us 10 corridor between Scottville and Ludington in a 2 door Honda car unaware a negligent driver of a 3/4 ton truck was barreling down on him at about 55 mph passed out at the steering wheel from opioids and struck Joe from behind changing his life forever nearly killing him.
Joe has since then been through countless visits to the U of M hospital down state and has been diagnosed with a closed head injury something similar to Parkinson's disease that causes him to shake uncontrollably, Legs, arm, hands, head, basically his whole body making him incapable of working.
Joe had lost everything he had worked for throughout his life including his home.
Joe's insurance company drug him out four years before helping and the little bit he received the attorney took 1/3 and after repaying the people that helped for years Joe was left with very little that he used to obtain a trailer on a piece land that was not up to livable conditions.
Today A large group of Amish have pulled together for the long time friend which they had business relationships together to remove the trailer and build a small log cabin at no charge.
It's my hope to help Joe get a fund that can help with month to month needs and property taxes and insurance.
Joe currently is getting disability assistance but it only totals about $800 per month not nearly enough to get through in this time where his health is progressively getting more difficult.
If your able to help in any way it would be greatly appreciated
