It is with deep and heartbreaking sadness that I start this Go Fund me page in honor of my dear friend and colleague Joe Vermilyea. After three weeks in the hospital, Joe V passed away on Friday 7/24 due to complications with a complex yet unforseen heart procedure.
As an avid gym goer, and healthy guy with the sunniest disposition you’ve ever met… This came as an incredible shock to Joe V’s family and colleagues.
Anyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Joe knows that there are a few things this man absolutely loved. He loved concerts, he loved the gym, he loved writing business, he loved the summer, detested cold weather. He loved coaching. He LOVED food. Joe could have a conversation with you about “what’s for lunch” for 20 minutes lol. Joe V loved talking, meeting new people, making connections and making people happy. Everything about Joe V was infectious, his laugh, his humor, his jokes, his demeanor, right down to his ring tone.
That being said, the real joy and love of Joe’s life was his family. Joe leaves behind his beautiful wife Kristen, whom hes been together with for 20+ years and his four beloved kids along with his brother and his family. Caileen bka Sissy, Michael bka Mickey, Mary and Lucy. The best part about Joe when it came to his family was the way he spoke about them. He simply could not wait to tell you that Sissy graduated college as doctor. Show you pictures of Mickeys new baby received just a week ago, his first grandbaby Hazel Mae, Mary’s steller accomplishments academically and that she is starting college in the fall, or how much he enjoyed coaching Lucy’s little league soft ball team. His face light up when talking about his kids who meant the world to him as he did to them. This man lived for his family. He never even had to try to express how much he loved them. You heard it every time he spoke their names.
Joe V has made some incredible connections in his life. A friend to many, a business associate to some, he would help you in in any way he could, and in time… Joe just became your friend. To say this loss is devastating for his family is an incredible understatement. I decided to start this go fund me for Joe’s family to offset unforeseen immediate funeral/medical expense’s they may encounter as they navigate their future without this pillar of their family.
Any and all donations/contributions will be going directly to Joe’s family as they navigate their new reality of living in this world without his infectious presence. The world suffered a great loss with this one. Anything we can do collectively as a community, to ease the financial stress an unexpected passing of someone so special does to any family would be greatly appreciated. Joe V would have been the first one to step up for any of us and our families if they found themselves in this devastating situation. Lets honor him. His light, his spirit, his integrity and his family by pulling together in this devastating time. Any and all donations welcomed and appreciated.
