On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at 1:55pm, my beloved husband, best friend, protector, "lobster", Joseph DeStefano, Jr. passed away as our oldest son Nick and I held his hand.
Joe has had a very hard last two years with numerous trips to the hospital including three trips to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. It seemed like everytime he went to the hospital they would take another piece of him, the last time it was his left leg.
Through it all, Joe's main worry was his family and providing for us. This man worked 6 months with a catherter seven days a week delivering newspapers. Then when he lost his leg, he went back to work early, on one leg, delivering newspapers with my help running his stores and "get-outs".
Joe and I have been working for Embrey Distributors for the ten years we have lived here on the Eastern Shore and up until the last 4 days we were the only ones that ran the Rock Hall route. Believe me these are not the paper routes we had as children, we would average 150 miles a day and lately were running well over 200 after picking up routes for the State News and this was 7 days a week 365 days a year. The only time Joe missed any work was when he was in the hospital.
We were never ones to ask for hand outs, that's why this is so hard for me and I didn't know where to turn. Several people had recommended GoFundMe and I'm not really sure this will work...but, I don't know where else to turn and I don't have enough money to pay for his cremation and fees and was hoping you could please help. If you could send anything it would be a tremendous help to me and our two boys Nick and D.J.. God Bless you all and thank you for your support.
