Joel McBurney Aneurysm Recovery

Hello loving friends, family and extended community,

On March 15th, 2023 our beloved friend, ski guide, avalanche expert, trail builder and all round outdoorsman, Joel was at work ski guiding when he began to experience neck pain and nausea. At the hospital it was discovered that he had suffered a dissecting aneurysm. Joel was transferred from Nelson to Kelowna General and then to Vancouver General Hospital.

A week later, Joel had a successful brain surgery to repair the aneurysm. We expect that soon Joel will be able to leave the Vancouver General Hospital and begin recovery.

This fundraiser is to help support Joel and his family with the cost of hotel, food, transport, missed work and other expenses during his rehabilitation and recovery. Because, so many of us have been helped into, or out of, the mountains by Joel!
