Joel Salazar Medical Fund

On Jan. 24, my uncle Joel was transported to KU Med in Kansas City due to liver failure. Currently, his kidneys are in the process of shutting down and the doctors and staff at KU Med are doing everything they can to stop that process. Over the weekend, Joel started dialysis. At this point, it is a day-to-day journey and I know my family and uncle have the strength and faith to overcome this.

Despite all the medical attention, Joel does not have insurance to cover all of these procedures and treatment. Donations will go directly to medical bills but also to my grandparents, Jesus and Nora Salazar, who are traveling from Garden City.

Eventually, donations will be needed for a liver transplant and probably more medical expenses, but help in any way possible would be appreciated (hotel discounts, airline mileage points, food gift cards, etc.).


If you know anything about my family, you know our last name is the epitome of Fighter. The strength, love, faith and fight we have in our blood is unmatched. We all appreciate the prayers and positive thoughts coming to us from everywhere in the world.

With God and family by his side, Joel is going to get through this.
