Joel Lara walked into our restaurant a brave and free spirit. Unknowingly to us, he would become our friend, our teacher, our brother, and our rock.
On May 11th, Joel was struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle to work. He was 18 years old and a week away from graduating high school.
Joel was the perfect embodiment of the love given to children by their parents. He shared this love with his friends in amazing ways. Whether it was a smile, a prank, a lending hand, a story, or a challenge, Joel made every room erupt with life. To us he was the "Enormous Angel", "Man of Steel", "Darling", "Loved Everyone and Made Us Smile Every Time", "Soul Rebel", "A Guardian", "To Melt For", and much more.
