Helping Joe Pimentel Kick Cancer

Donation protected
For those wondering who Joe Pimentel is, it is hard to know where to start, but if you have played soccer with Edmonton Minor Soccer, chances are he has been involved in ensuring you can play in some way. Joe has coached a plethora of teams in Lago Lindo over the past decade.  He currently coaches his daughter's U16 Girls team, a team which has been recognized around the province as fierce competitors in the community program. Joe is also a referee with Alberta Soccer, having refereed hundreds of games over the years and has been responsible for the development and mentorship of the younger referees that join our program every year. In recent years, Joe has become quite involved behind the scenes, a core member of the Lago Lindo Community Soccer Program, a member of the EMSA North Board of Directors, the Official Referee Assignor for the North Zone, and was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2015 from EMSA.  He's involvement behind the scenes spans from helping build out teams and preparing equipment for coaches, to facilitating coach and referee training, and helping ensure referees are at games.

In addition to his volunteerism activities with Edmonton Minor Soccer, Joe is also an active member of his church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a father, a husband, a son, and a friend of many. He is pillar in his community and role model for all.

Joe was diagnosed in late 2015 with Stage IV Stomach Cancer. He's been undergoing an aggressive combination of both modern and natural path treatments in hopes of being one the many, yet few, who survive cancer.

Over the years, Joe and his family have given so much to community soccer in Edmonton, and we're hoping to show our thanks for that support by supporting him throughout this fight his embarking on. If you're interested in supporting Joe and his family, or if you just want to say thank you for the work he's done, please donate to this amazing family. We imagine the funds will be used to support Joe and his family throughout his battle, but our foremost goal is to give them one less thing to think about when deciding how to proceed with the various expensive treatments.

In addition to this Fundraising Campaign, a special soccer tournament, The Pimentel Cup, will run the Canada Day long weekend in Edmonton, Alberta. The tournament is open to all age groups from U4 - U18. All proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Joe and his family as well. We would like to thank everyone in advance for your support. Good Luck Joe, we're here for you!

Sincerely,

Chris Buchanan
