Joe's casino trip

This is Joe A’s story. I'm the guy standing next to him. I'm Joe's doctor, Dr. Stadlen. I've been taking care of Joe at a local nursing home for the past four years. Due to congestive heart failure and circulation problems Joe is confined to a wheelchair. It's really incredible to see how upbeat and driven he continues to be in such a challenging situation. You can also tell that Joe is filled with youthful enthusiasm by the way he buzzes around the nursing home in his newly refurbished electric wheelchair, provided by the physical therapy department.

Joe is a people person. He hasn't been able to go out in years and would like to go on an outing outside of the NH to a local casino, about an hour away, in Monticello, NY. He misses the atmosphere; the people cheering, the shows, the restaurants etc. Win or lose at the tables, Joe always used to enjoy his casino adventures and he misses the action.

Now for some Logistics: 

I am willing to take a day off and be Joe's chaperone for the day. Many CNAs have already volunteered to take a day off, without pay, to assist Joe regarding his nursing needs throughout the day. What we DON'T have is transportation. To safely take Joe on an outing he needs an ambulette or a wheelchair accessible van. Your donation can help Joe reach his $900 goal so that he can pay for transportation for the day. We are hoping that, sometime this winter, Joe, and his supportive entourage, can make the trip.
