Joey and Aplastic anaemia
Donación protegida
Hi my name is Brandon father of my beautiful boy Joey.
this year turned upside down fast and Joey health started to decline, on one of the days mum took Joey to the doctors as he was pale, lethargic, short of breath and bruised. We was then sent to Treliske hospital for bloods to be done. It’s at this time we was to find joeys blood counts and platelets was severely low and Joey then had to have transfusions done.
Very quickly we was sent to Bristol children’s hospital for more investigation to see why Joey wasn’t producing his own blood, after a bone marrow aspiration we was to find out there was no clear cause of what was happing and was diagnosed with Aplastic anaemia (bone marrow failure)
since then we have regular visits to Truro hospital 2 weekly having blood/platelet transfusion.
we are now waiting on having his bone marrow transplant. This could be happening as fast as this November. This is going to be a long lengthy process of treatment and isolation and will be done in London me and mum will need to regularly change who will be looking after Joey while treatment is done mean while also looking after 2 other children we have at home.
both me and mum can’t work at the moment due to health and joeys treatments.
the money raised will go towards transportation cost, food, additional expenses in London and joey.
when we are in London it could be up to 8 recovery weeks and then regular visits back along side visits to Truro hospital.
thank you for taking the time to read our story so far. We would appreciate and little you can give thank you all so much.
