Joey Booker and Family!

On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Joey’s Apple watch notified his wife (Sherry) and the EMTs that he had experienced a fall. EMTs responded and found Joey on a job site in his vehicle unresponsive. He was taken via ambulance to Providence hospital where a CT revealed he had a subarachnoid hemorrhage (a type of ruptured aneurysm). He was transferred to Sacred Heart hospital late that night. His oxygen level was extremely low so he was sedated and placed on a ventilator. After numerous additional tests, Joey was taken to surgery on Thursday, March 16th where neurosurgeons placed a stent in his brain to drain the fluid and placed a sheath over the leaking aneurysm. The surgery went well and several days later Joey was able to come off the ventilator. He is still in ICU as they continue to monitor the stent to ensure it is working while they also closely monitor him for any after-effects caused by the leaking aneurysm.
Joey is a dedicated husband to Sherry and a loving father to Joseph (10) and Ollie (7), and he now needs our help. Due to his injury, Joey faces a very long struggle with recovery and rehabilitation. He will remain in ICU for quite some time and then in the hospital even longer still. If you know Joey, then you know he is optimistic and isn’t scared of hard work – and he is ready to put in the work and get his recovery started!
As a husband, father, brother and friend, Joey had many responsibilities that he fulfilled every day with great passion, optimism, and success. Now he has a singular focus….to fight and get stronger every day. Therefore, we need to help him take care of all of those other responsibilities in whatever way we can.
Joey means so much to so many people. Truly, to know him is to love him. It is that love that drives our determination to support him and his family in any way possible.
Many people have asked what can I do; how can I help? Pray, love your family and friends, smile and laugh (like Joey) don’t take anything in life for granted….and if you are able, please DONATE to help Joey and his family as they navigate the uncertainty of his challenging road to recovery.
With much love and appreciation for your support…
