Joey Brock Flash Flood Fundraiser
Donation protected
Joey Brock is a mixed media portrait artist who aims to highlight diversity, equality and inclusion in his work by highlighting individuals in marginalized communities. He's made art his full-time job and lives out of a studio that also serves as his home in Fair Park. He woke up on August 22nd at 2 am to rising water levels in his first-floor loft. He looked out of his window and saw a 4ft river washing cars down the street as water began to fill his apartment. He immediately moved his car to higher ground and then rushed back to his studio to try and save his work. Unfortunately, he lost supplies for his next gallery show, furniture, and pieces from his personal art collection.
Joey then ran across the hall to Kelsey Anne Heimermann's studio, who is on vacation, to try and save her home and art. He worked tirelessly to try and salvage everything he could for himself and others.
Art is his only source of income, and while he has insurance to cover some of the damage, he will suffer financial loss as he needs to find a new space to create while the building does repairs on his unit. We started this GoFundMe for Joey because he would never ask for help on his own, and we want to do our best to support someone who has always been there for those that need him.
