Joey Jay Hughes' family is in need of your help.

Donation protected
Joey Jay Hughes, Sr., went to be with our Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, 18 September 2022, at the young age of 52. As many of you know, Joey was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago; given a short time to live, he refused to give up and fought with every ounce of his being until his battered body and complications from COVID wore him down.

Joey loved dirt track racing, fishing, working on his boat, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids, while participating in sports, go-cart racing and rodeoing.

No matter where Joey went, he never met a stranger and was always the life of the party! He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need...except if he was mad at you.

Unfortunately, Joey did not have life insurance, and his family needs assistance carrying out his last wishes of cremation and a Celebration of Life. If you would like to donate but prefer to send the funds directly to the funeral home, the funeral home handling the cremations is below; please be sure to notate that the funds are for Joey Jay Hughes Sr.:

Callaway-Jones Funeral Home
3001 S College Ave
Bryan TX 77801

Joey will be missed dearly by his wife Sarah, son Joey, Jr. and wife Ashley, daughter Harli LeAnn and husband Maurice, stepdaughter Ashley and husband Ryan, stepson Joe and wife Kassidy, stepson Matthew, mother Linda, sister Melinda and husband Chris, brother Shannon and wife Tammara, grandchildren Aaron, Ayden, Liam and Lainey and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends and surrogate children.

The family would like to thank everyone for their sympathies and prayers and any donation you can make during this difficult time.

Joey's Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, 22 October 2022, at Snook City Park from 11 AM-3 PM. Please RSVP to the Facebook event, Joey Hughes' Celebration of Life. The Snook City Park is located on County Road 269, Somerville, TX (near the Snook High School).
