Joey Ledbetter Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
Hi there-

My name is Rachel Justice. Back in September my brother-in-law, Joey “Xander” Ledbetter was traveling into Mexico from his home in California. He headed across the border to continue the good work of rebuilding homes that had been destroyed by a hurricane the previous month.

With no intention other than to utilize his resources to help those in need, he crossed the border. He was stopped and searched in Mexicali by the Federal Police who found ammunition in his bag that he hadn’t realized he’d left in there. There was NO firearm present, simply the ammunition. Because the ammunition was hollow point, it is considered military grade ammo by the Mexican Federal Police.

He has since been sitting in prison in Mexico and looking at 35 years in a Mexican prison.

This is a man that embodies goodness, love, and resilience. He has overcome so much heartache and devastation in his life and was doing all he could to bring love, light, and peace to those around him. He is an advocate for all and a youth leader. HE NEEDS OUR HELP.

Joey/Xander has been given the bare minimum and does not even have a blanket to keep him warm during the cold Mexican nights. He has been feeling ill and dealing with preexisting medical issues he is not getting treatment for. It has been incredibly difficult for any communication between him and his family and friends.

Thankfully, the Embassy has granted permission for my sister-in-law, Katie Brehm, to travel to Mexico to be able to at least see him with her own eyes. She is the only one authorized to do this and must now make her way from Florida to Mexico merely to be able to see her baby brother. This is where we need your help.

We are not able to merely send supplies to him. Katie must wait until she gets to Mexico and purchase whatever she needs from an authorized store by the prison. On top of that, he has only recently been authorized to make phone calls, for which he will need to pay. If you can spare ANYTHING to help get Joey what he needs, it will make a difference. Any money left over from these purchases will go towards his bills at home that continue to be due while he is sitting awaiting his fate in Mexico.

Please know this is not a case of a criminal paying for his crimes. Joey is a good man with no prior record. He made an error in judgement while he mind was focused on the good work he set out to do.

Please donate what you can. Katie will be able to use this money to, at the very least, give Joey some support and know that there are people on the outside looking out for him.

There is a separate fundraiser for legal fees, but the bottom line is he needs our help NOW. We have no way to know what the true conditions of the prison are and what he is enduring each day. This prison saw riots a year ago because of how terrible it was. Who knows what he is seeing and dealing with while we are able to carry on with our lives.

Please. Whatever you can spare will go a long way. Thank you so much ❤️✌
