Joey Pelton's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Dana, I am a close family friend of Joey & Andrea Pelton . Joey was recently the victim of a hit and run automobile accident as a pedestrian while on a quick weekend trip. I am starting this fundraiser for Joey and his family to assist in easing the financial impact his recent accident is having on the family so that their energy can be focused on his rehabilitation. Thank you to all that have already contributed time, meals, and financial assistance, it is greatly appreciated.

Joey was struck by a motor vehicle while walking down the street the evening of July 9th in Long Beach, WA. Joey and his wife Andrea rented a beach house for a quick weekend getaway with their close friends. Friday evening Joey said he was running out to his truck, but he never made it back to the house. Andrea became concerned so she went out looking for him. Andrea found Joey laying in the front yard of the beach house significantly injured. He was struck by a motor vehicle at what is anticipated to be a 35mph+ impact which he most likely did not see coming, however as of now he has no recollection of the incident. The individual that struck Joey left the scene of the incident leaving him severely injured laying in the yard. The police are involved and doing everything to track down the person that did this. Joey was transported via ambulance from Ilwaco ER to Legacy Portland for emergency care. He has suffered numerous injuries leaving him pretty banged up, including a broken back. He is moving as much as possible 100% dependent on a walker and needs assistance with his activities of daily living. The doctor's believe he is capable of making a pretty full recovery over time which is such a blessing.  Joey is home and determined to recover as quickly as possible so he can get back to work, however the length of time he will be in recovery and without an income is unknown at this time. Andrea started a new job a few weeks ago with an amazing company who gave her the week off so she can be with her husband and assist him with adjusting to this new normal before she returns to work July 19th. Family and friends are spending time with Joey up at his house starting next week so he can safely recover and keep working towards healing and becoming independently mobile.

Joey is one of the first people in line to help others and he never expects anything in return. If we all come together I know we can assist in easing the stress of the financial impact this is having on them. This will allow Joey and Andrea to focus on his recovery and invest their time and energy fully into his healing so he can get back to doing what he loves most, being super active. As of now they are both focused on getting Joey acclimated to being home directing their efforts towards his healing so I respectfully ask you do not to overwhelm them right now with lots of questions etc. Updates will be provided here moving forward as they are received.

Thank you so much for taking the time to view this and consideration in assisting this family in anyway you possibly can!

God Bless,

Dana
