Joey Wheeler - The Battle Begins, Leukemia Support
Donation protected
Joey was just diagnosed and confirmed with (ALL) Accute Lymphoblastic Luekemia. He is only 23 years old. His positive attitude is inspiring.
All though his attitude is positive the battle has just begun. We have been informed of the treatment that will be required in the next 2-3 years. We are staying hopeful with knowledge that this cancer can go into remission. Unfortunately at this time there is no cure for this type of Cancer but a high success rate with treatment for remission. We are asking for assistance if you are at all able to help it would be much appreciated. If all you can help with is hitting the share button that too would be helpful. He could also use a prayer from everyone. Thank you in advance. Please read his announcement below.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!! I have cancer!!! Yikes maybe that’s a bit abrupt??
Let me explain…
I had started having some rapid heartbeat, headthrobs and shortness of breath on November 10th, at first I thought it would go away but it didn’t. Believing it had something to do with the car accident I had in February of this year or maybe hemochromatosis which runs in my family, I was gonna make appointments with certain specialist. Boy was I wrong lol. Getting covid made things complicated with making the appointments, but after I felt better I worked on setting them up while getting back to my life. On Monday I had almost passed out twice, which was scary so on Tuesday I had gone to urgent care to see if they had an idea what it could be. They said maybe it’s anxiety and sent me home
On Wednesday I had gone to my chiropractor who said I looked yellow, and said I should go to the ER. That night I was diagnosed with possibly having Leukemia, Thursday they confirmed It’s Acute Leukemia. Fortunately it’s very curable with treatment lasting around two years, unfortunately I’m stuck in the hospital for about a month, but better here than in the ground. Now, it probably won’t be the most fun I’ve had, but during this time I have lots of family and friends for support, which will be super helpful along the journey. Being super optimistic and positive about this is helping me think this journey ahead will be a breeze, which isn’t true, this will be the most difficult thing I’ll overcome in my life. Starting down a path of lots of hospital visits with lots of chemotherapy will be rough, but the beginning of a journey is always the easiest in my opinion. The hard part? Staying optimistic and positive throughout this whole experience, but with an amazing support system I think it will still be a walk in the park. Feeling super grateful for everyone and everything I have in my life, this would be much more difficult without you all, so thank you!
Hoping everyone has an amazing time over the holidays, spending time with the ones you love or doing something you love. Stay positive and party on folks!!!
